Mann, Richard Earl "Ritchie"
May 8, 1963 - February 8, 2025
Richard Earl “Ritchie” Mann, 61, of Goshen, Indiana passed away at home after a long battle with Alzheimers.
Ritchie was born in Elkhart Indiana to Richard and Carol (Miller) Mann who have gone on before him to prepare the way.
Ritchie is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Terri and Rodney Masters; his niece Stefanie (Jarad) Miller; and nephew Ricky (Jackie) Masters. He has three great-nieces, Karolyna, Gigi and Lila. He is survived by many aunts and uncles, Shirlee (Dean) Lambright, Jacksonville, Florida, Jean (Stan) Shriner, David Miller, Don (deceased) Jackie Mann, Phyllis (Maynard) Weaver, he has too many to list, wonderful, first, second and third cousins.
Ritchie competed in various Special Olympic sports such as track and field, bowling, and basketball. He always said, “I am the fastest runner!” After graduating from the Horizon Center, a school for the disabled in Elkhart County, he went on to work at the Association for the Disabled of Elkhart County (ADEC industries) and after retirement, attended the ADEC day program in Goshen.
Ritchie was baptized at Prairie Street Mennonite Church where he grew up. He later became part of Goshen Mennonite Church, where he enjoyed Sunday School and the Disability Bell Choir, playing bells for nursing homes and churches. He took part in the Shipshewana GoldenRod retreats for many years where he liked to be in the plays. He also went to The Vine church in Goshen with his sister, where he helped in the coffee shop and met many new friends.
Ritchie served in various officer positions in Goshen Kiwanis but his favorite was always the Presidency. He was also President for the Power for Independence at ADEC for many years and elected at the state level, as a Board Member for the Self Advocates of Indiana. He participated in many trips to Indianapolis with ADEC to meet the senators and advocated for disability rights.
He enjoyed traveling to Florida, Jacksonville, Sarasota and Siesta Key where he loved the beaches and spending time with his extended family. He enjoyed playing video games and could often beat us all. He was the self-proclaimed #1 fan for the Cubs, Notre Dame, and the Bears.
Ritchie was a blessing to our family. He was a “helper guy” and hugger. He touched many of those who he encountered in his life journey with a kind of unconditionally love and joy that can be hard to find.

March 8, 1948 - February 3, 2025
A. Gary Martin,76, formerly of Pequea passed away early Monday morning, February 3, 2025 at Park Creek Place, North Wales, PA where he has resided since this past fall. Born in Marticville on March 8, 1948, he was the son of the late Andrew H. and Susie Virginia Stoner Martin. He was the husband of Audrey Ellingson Martin, who preceded him in death on May 15, 2022.
Gary worked in construction the majority of his life. He enjoyed helping others with carpentry work. He worked for Nauman Construction for many years as construction foreman and worked until retirement for City Limits in maintenance. He was known to whistle while he worked.
Gary graduated from Penn Manor High School in 1966. He enjoyed everything outdoors, splitting wood, hiking, fishing, hunting and camping. He enjoyed visiting his brothers and sisters. He dearly loved his grandchildren and enjoyed attending their sporting events.
Gary will be missed by his son, Kirby V., husband of Eileen Martin of North Wales, daughter, Kimberly D., wife of Eric A. Lake of Mount Joy and his grandchildren, Vaughan, Wyatt, Sophia, and Macy. He is also survived by his stepson, Damon Ellingson of New Jersey, step grandchildren, Faith and Billy, brothers, John, husband of Joann Martin of Pequea, James, husband of Sandra of Richmond, VA and Daniel Martin of New Holland, sisters, Sylvia, wife of Moses Beiler of Turin, NY and Susan, wife of Delmar Weaver of Lykens, PA, sister-in-law Marilyn Martin of Strasburg and many nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Martin.

Arlene Brubacker Martin, 54, of Ephrata, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025, at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born in Earl Township, New Holland to Clarence W. and the late Anna S. Martin.
Arlene was a member of Martindale Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference. Her last two employers were Village Farm Market and New Holland Family Restaurant.
In addition to her father, she is survived by a brother, Walter, husband of Sarah (Hoover) Martin of Penn Yan, NY; five sisters, Frances and Esther both of Ephrata, Laura, wife of Franklin Hoover of New Holland, Grace, wife of Amos R. Horning of Ephrata, Martha, wife of Reuben Newswanger of New Holland; a sister-in-law, Linda Martin, wife of the late Leonard Martin; eighteen nieces and nephews; one great-nephew; three step-nieces and nephews; twenty-four step great-nieces and nephews and one step great-great-nephew.
In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by a sister, Norma and two infant sisters, Mary and Bertha

Benjamin Ben S. Martin, 86, of Lititz, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 20, 2025. Born in New Holland, PA, he was the beloved son of the late Edna (Sauder) and Titus Martin.
A man of deep faith, Ben was a devoted member of Lancaster Brethren in Christ Church. His kind and generous spirit touched the lives of many, and his legacy of warmth and compassion will be remembered.
Ben found joy in lifes simple pleasures. He loved visiting golf courses and cherished the proud moment of achieving a hole-in-one at Coeur dAlene, Idaho. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and enjoyed watching golf. Whether tending to his yard, reading a good book, or putzing around the house, he found fulfillment in the everyday moments. His love for driving and taking road trips reflected his spirit and appreciation for lifes journey.
Ben dedicated his professional career to Wenger Feeds, where he worked tirelessly and built strong relationships with his customers before retiring at the age of 70. He was known for his un-wavering work ethic and the genuine care he extended to those around him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Nolt) Steffy; his children, Deb Nemith (Steve) of Ephrata and Cathy Mohler (Scott); He was a proud grandfather to Derek Mohler (Amy), Tonya Glick (Gavin), and Ryan Nemith (Lauren). His legacy continues through his cherished great-grandchildren: Landon, Adeline, Tegan, Ashton, Brendon, Cameron, and Olivia. Ben is also survived by his dear sisters, Phebe Good and Esther Lefever. Ben is also survived by Marys family: Eric Steffy (Becky Miller-Steffy) of Telford, PA, grand-children: Daniel, Lauren, Natalie, and Sarah Steffy. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth (Winters) Martin, with whom he shared over 42 wonderful years of marriage, as well as his siblings: Betty, Mary Alice, Rhoda, Mark, Isaac, and Naomi.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Lancaster Brethren in Christ Church, 1865 Fruitville Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601. Clarence M. Martin, 84, of Fairmount Homes, formerly of Leola, passed into eternity with his heavenly Father on January 11, 2025. He was married to Arlene Zoll Martin, who preceded him in death in 2021. He was born to the late Paul S. and Lizzie Mellinger Martin in East Earl, PA.
Clarence was a member of Groffdale Mennonite (Brick) Church. He was a mason for Lancaster Masonry, formerly Grant Smith & Son, for over 40 years. He was a member of the Garden Spot Hunting Club in Sullivan Co. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his garden.
Clarence is survived by his children Jay, husband of Audrey (Horst) Martin, Brenda, wife of Dale Weaver, and Terry. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Evelyn Ritchie. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Sue (Shannon) Martin, brothers: Jeremiah, Paul, Jr., Leroy, and Raymond, and sister, Emma Hess, and a great-grandson, Logan Garman.
A viewing will be held on Friday, January 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Groffdale Mennonite (Brick) Church, 168 N. Groffdale Rd., Leola. An additional viewing will be held on Saturday, January 18 from 9 to 10 a.m. followed by funeral services at Groffdale Mennonite (Brick) Church with Pastor Tom Eshleman officiating. August 10, 1989 - January 3, 2025
Clinton D. Martin, 35, of Robesonia, passed away following an accident at work on Friday, January 3, 2025. He was the husband of Julie Bange Martin with whom he shared 13 years of marriage. Born in Memphis, MO he was the son of Curvin M. Martin of Memphis, MO and the late Edith Martin. He was the stepson of Ruth Sensenig Martin.
Clinton worked as a dairy farmer until about 7 years ago. He was employed by TLS Equipment as a mechanic and painter. Clinton was an avid trapper and hunter and had a great love of farm life and anything outdoors.
Clinton was an active member of Zion Mennonite Chapel in Reinholds.
Surviving besides his wife, father and stepmother are four sons, Carson Grant Martin, Jansyn Trent Martin, Bryson Cole Martin, and Easton Drew Martin; three brothers, Delmar husband of Faith Martin, Curvin husband of Esther Martin, and Eldon husband of Karen Martin; and two sisters, Mabel wife of Anthony Weiler, and Ruth wife of Daryl Martin.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 9, at 10:00 A.M. at New Haven Mennonite Church, 230 Crest Road, Lititz, PA. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. Dale Martin, 87, of Ephrata, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Zerbe Retirement Community. He was the husband of the late Ethel M. Eisenhour Martin who died in 2016. Born in Blue Ball, he was the son of the late Harvey Z. and Esther Elizabeth Betty Martin.
Dale had been the former co-owner of Zimmerman Manufacturing and retired in 2002. He was a member of the Hinkletown Mennonite Church.
Dale enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the East End Hunting Club for over 50 years. He enjoyed metal detecting and was a member of the Lancaster Research and Recovery Club. He also enjoyed traveling, camping, reading and playing cards and board games
Surviving are two daughters, Wendy wife of Paul Means, and Donna Martin; a son Terry husband of Cher Kent Martin; four grandchildren, Sherri Stoltzfus, Terri wife of Jim Scarle, Paul D. Means III husband of Jen and Emily Kent; nine great-grand-children and two great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Betty Ann Halley, Nelda Bauder, Willa (Luke) Ulrich, Norma Knowles, Myrna (Willis) Eberly, and Lorin Martin. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carol Jean, and by brothers Lynn, Dean and a sister Lucy.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 19, at 2:00 PM at the Hinkletown Mennonite Church, 2031 Division Highway, Ephrata, PA. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service.

Elizabeth M. Martin, 90, of Ephrata, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Fairmount Homes.
She was born in Morgantown to the late Samuel and Malinda (Mast) Petersheim and was the wife of the late Earl E. Martin.
She was a member of Red Run Mennonite Church. Elizabeth was a homemaker. She volunteered for many years at the Ephrata Re-Uzit. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting and gardening.
Elizabeth is survived by two daughters, Etta, wife of Homer Eberly of Ephrata, Kay, wife of Joe Good of Terre Hill; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 10 to 11 AM, at Red Run Mennonite Church, 987 Martin Church Rd., Denver, followed by a memorial service at 11 AM, with Pastor Kevin Weaver officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Frances W. Martin, 85, of East Earl, passed away at home on Friday, March 7, 2025.
She was the wife of the late Paul R. Martin who died in 2016. Born in Denver, she was the daughter of the late Noah Z. and Lizzie M. Weaver Nolt.
Frances was a homemaker and a member of the Churchtown Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.
Surviving is a stepson, John D., husband of Mary M. Martin of Churchtown, a sister, Martha, wife of Irvin Zimmerman of Ephrata, a sister-in-law, Lydia Nolt of Fleetwood, 4 step grandchildren, 8 step great-grandchildren and 2 step great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by siblings, Lizzie, Clayton, Katie, Annie, Emma, Jonas, Jacob and Menno.

Irwin H. Martin, 93, Ephrata, passed away on Friday January 31, 2025 in the Lincoln Christian Home. He was the husband of the late Nora Buckwalter Martin who passed away on October 20, 2020 and to whom he was married on November 22, 1952. Irwin was born in Lancaster County on June 3, 1931 a son of the late John M. and Lena S. (Horning) Martin. He was a member of the Fairview Mennonite Church of the Weaverland Conference.
Surviving are children: Leonard B. and wife Arlene (Burkholder) Martin; Marian B. wife of Elvin Zimmerman; Elvin B. and wife Erla (High) Martin; Harold B. and wife Mary J. (Snyder) Martin; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; a sister: Anna H. wife of the late Hershey Martin.
He was preceded in death by sisters: Edna Weiler (Harvey), Alta H. Horst (Aaron), Lena H. Martin; brothers: Raymond, John, Leroy, Allen, Earl Martin and infant twin brothers.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday February 5, 2025 from 5 to 8 pm in the Fairview Reception Center 141 Jackson Rd., Lebanon, PA 17042. Laura S. Martin, 85, of Ephrata, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Fairmount Homes, where she received compassionate care. She was born in East Earl to the late Mahlon W. and Vera K. (Sensenig) Martin and was the loving wife of Leroy H. Martin for 64 years.
Laura was a member of Metzler Mennonite Church. A homemaker, she tenderly and graciously cared for her family. She was known as a great cook, an avid quilter, and she enjoyed volunteering at the Ephrata ReUzit shop. Laura loved to sing and enjoyed music. She is described as a very special person by all who knew her, with each child and grandchild receiving a quilt from her.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Linda J. Weinhold (Dean), Lois A. Beyer (Clair), Lorraine K. Oberholtzer (Michael) and one son, Robert D. Martin (Christina), eight grandchildren, Melissa, Dean, Jr., Jonathan, Melanie, Andrew, Alex, Aidan and Rachel and six great-grandchildren, Chase, Desmond, Laken, Harper, Aubrey and Logan, a sister, Miriam S. Oberholtzer, and two brothers, Lawrence S. and Mervin S. Martin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Clifford L. Martin (Roxanne), a grandson, Eric M. Weinhold, and three brothers, Lewis S., Vernon S. and Mahlon S. Martin, Jr.

Mary S. Martin, 93, of Ephrata, PA, entered into rest at her residence on February 24, 2025. She was the wife of the late Amos W. Martin. Born in Caernarvon Twp., she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Elizabeth Sauder Nolt.
She was a member of the South Fairmount Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.
Surviving is a son and seven daughters, Ella Martin of Harrison-burg, VA, Ruth Martin at home, Lucy wife of Noah Z. Shirk of Ephrata, Amos husband of Rebecca B. Leinbach Martin of Penn Yan, NY, Martha wife of Carl N. Shirk of Riceville, IA, Annetta wife of David Z. Fox of Stanley, NY, Louise wife of Willis S. Burkholder of Hopkinsville, KY, and Almeda wife of Elvin Z. Fox of Leola, forty grand-children, eighty-two great-grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Lena Z. Nolt of Fleetwood. She was preceded in death by a son, Lloyd Martin, two grandchildren, Jolene Shirk and Galen Fox, and eight siblings, Ammon Nolt, Lydia Ann Hurst, Esther Martin, Elizabeth Nolt, Isaac Nolt, Martha Martin, Samuel Nolt, Jr, and Ivan Nolt.

Paul Reiff Martin, 76, of East Earl, PA, passed away at home on Thursday, January 30, 2025. He was the husband of Annie (Shirk) Martin. Born October 17, 1948, in New Holland, he was the son of the late LeRoy and Lizzie (Reiff) Martin.
Paul was a member of the Bowmansville Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference, where he had served as a minister since 1977. He was a retired farmer.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Elvin husband of Evelyn Martin of East Earl, Jay Paul husband of Louella Martin of Dundee, NY, and Jonathan husband of Rose Ann Martin of Red Creek, NY; seven daughters, Alma wife of Nevin Zimmerman of Lititz, Anna Mary wife of Leon Martin of Elma, IA, Norma wife of Levi Leinbach of East Earl, Grace wife of Lamar Zimmerman of Greenwood, WI, Linda wife of John Aaron Hoover of Curtiss, WI, Arlene wife of Amos Zimmerman of Mohnton, PA, and Annetta wife of John Martin of Sharon Grove, KY; fifty-eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers, LeRoy husband of Martha Martin of Morgantown, Aaron husband of Christine Martin of Leesport; three sisters, Mabel Martin of New Holland, Ella Mae wife of Neal Hoover of Mt. Pleasant Mills, PA, Elizabeth wife of James Leid of Narvon; and a sister-in-law, Arlene Martin of Little Cedar, IA.
He was preceded in death by a stillborn son, a granddaughter, a great-granddaughter, by brothers, Ivan Martin, and Melvin Martin and by a sister-in-law Edna (Melvin) Martin.

Martin, Raymond "Galen"
May 26, 1943 - January 21, 2025
Raymond "Galen" Martin, age 81 of Shippensburg, passed away January 21, 2025 at Menno Haven. He was born May 26, 1943 in Chambersburg to the late Raymond C. and Cora (Hawbaker) Martin. He was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Helen Boll Martin.
Galen was a farmer and owner of Martin’s Well Drilling. He was a member of Rowe Mennonite Church and enjoyed traveling, hiking and working. Galen remained very active his entire life and donated countless amounts of blood, donating every time he was eligible.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gail (Martin) Martin of Shippensburg; children, Derwood “Woody” Martin and wife, Wendy of Shippensburg, Devonna “Voni” Diem of Shippensburg, Gwen Horst and husband, Dale of N. Lawrence, OH, Darla Druist and husband, Harlan of Shippensburg, Deanne Raines and husband, Edward of Bedford, Regan Martin of Hagerstown, MD, Stacy Wiser and husband, Ron of Newburg and Ramon Martin and wife, Tammy of Newburg; 30 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and brothers, Eugene Martin and wife, Nancy of Orrstown, Guy Martin of Lancaster, Dwight Martin and wife Joanne of Shippensburg and Allen Martin and wife, Joyce of Shippensburg. Galen was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Genevieve Martin; son-in-law, Eugene Diem; sister, Rosemary Keener and her husband, George and a great-grandchild
Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg. A viewing will be held at Rowe Mennonite Church, 754 Pinola Road, Shippensburg, PA 17257 on Friday, January 24 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 10:30am at the church, with a meal to follow services. Galen will be laid to rest at Rowe Mennonite Cemetery. Martin, Rhoda W. Imhoff
June 30, 1942 - March 8, 2025
Rhoda W. Martin, daughter of Elmer and Mary (Weaver) Imhoff was born June 30, 1942 in Wooster, OH. Rhoda departed this life at Goshen Hospital on March 8, 2025, aged 82 years, 8 months, and 6 days, after an illness of 7 weeks.
Rhoda was married to Elon Martin on November 8, 1962. He survives along with four sons: Devon (Lucy) Martin of Goshen, IN, Marlin (Anita) Martin of Carson City, MI, Elson (Rachel) Martin of Rochester, IN, and Naaman (Eileen) Martin of Goshen, IN; one daughter, Anna Mary (Ernest) of Fenwick, MI; 37 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; one brother, David Imhoff of Goshen, IN; and 3 sisters: Esther Ramer of Carson City, MI, Lois Ramer of Rochester, IN, and Rachel Ramer of Goshen, IN.
Rhoda was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Lizzie Imhoff; three brothers: Paul, Daniel, and Heber Imhoff; one brother-in-law, John Ramer.
Mrs. Martin was a member of the Old Order Mennonite Church and was a homemaker and sewer.
Friends may call from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Monday, March 10, 2025 and Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at the Family Residence (24835 CR 38, Goshen, IN 46526). Funeral services will be held at Yellow Creek Old Order Mennonite Church at 9:30 am on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. Home Ministries of the Old Order Mennonite Church will officiate and burial will take place in Yellow Creek Frame Cemetery, Goshen, IN. In lieu of flowers, the family covets your prayers. Martin, Samuel M.
March 25, 1934 - February 25, 2025
Samuel M. Martin, 90, of Ephrata, died Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Fairmount Homes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha M. (Nolt) Martin, in 2019. Born on March 25, 1934 in East Earl, he was the son of the late Samuel Z. and Hettie (Musser) Martin.
He was a dairy farmer and a member of Pequea Mennonite Church.
Surviving are five children: Charlotte married to Elvin Wenger, Ephrata, Debra married to Paul Zimmerman, Ephrata, Daryl married to Marian Martin, Gap, Gladys married to Glen Hurst, Narvon, S. Myron married to Diane Martin, Olar, SC, twenty-three grandchildren and ninety-one great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by seven siblings: Paul Martin, Alvin Martin, Lydia Martin, Margaret Hoover, Minnie Martin, Sarah Nolt and Mary Martin.
His funeral will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Pequea Mennonite Church with Bishop Curvin Zimmerman, Paul Newswanger, Loren Nolt and Marlin Zimmerman officiating. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fairmount Homes Wheat Ridge Chapel. Kindly omit flowers.

Mast, Doris J. Mishler
January 10, 1933 - January 22, 2025
Doris J. Mast, 92, of LaGrange, formerly of Howe, died at 7:41 am, on Wednesday, January 22 [2025] at The Waters of LaGrange. She was born on January 10, 1933, in Alto, MI, to John and Ruth (Dintaman) Mishler. On November 23, 1952, in LaGrange County, she married William "Bill" I. Mast, he died December 21, 2016.
Surviving are two daughters, Jan (John) Schwartz of Sturgis, MI, Lorilee (Brian) Christner of Wolcottville; four sons, Gary (Lynnette) Mast, Mike (Judy) Mast, Philip (Sandy) Mast all of Shipshewana, Brian Mast of Howe; twelve grandchildren, Stacey (Chris) Spolyar, Chris (Heidi) Mast, Evan (Kim) Mast, Jesse (Mike) Whitten, Jenny (Rory) Igo, Trey Christner, Dana (Corey) Johnson, Alisha (Craig) Blume, Melissa (Joseph) Raber, Kaitlyn (Emanuel) Ashibuogwu, Tanner Mast, Dylan Mast (special friend, Emmaline Schild); 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (Gerald) Miller of Westfield, Martha (John) Bender of Goshen; brother, Richard Mishler (special friend, Sharon Renihan) of Sebring, FL.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and a son-in-law, Jim Lauver.
Doris was a homemaker and the last charter member of Marion Christian Fellowship. She was very active at the church, serving as a Sunday school and Bible school teacher and was involved with the sewing group. Doris never knew a stranger and had the gift of hospitality. She loved cooking, quilting and embroidering. She also enjoyed attending Westview High School basketball games. Most importantly, Doris loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love of the color pink was never more evident than the morning she passed away when a beautiful pink sunrise occurred.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, January 26 at Marion Christian Fellowship, 5460 North 450 West, Shipshewana. Family and friends will gather at 10:00 am on Monday, January 27 at Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana for a graveside service. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, January 27 at the church. Services will be conducted by Pastors Randy and Larissa Willard. Memorials may be given to Marion Christian Fellowship.
Mast, Freeman D.
December 24, 1964 - March 11, 2025
Freeman D. Mast, 60, of LaGrange (district: 2), died at 10:15 am on Tuesday, March 11, [2025] at Life Care Center, LaGrange, where he was living for eight and a half years. He was born on December 24, 1964, in LaGrange County, to Delbert J. and Anna Marie (Bontrager) Mast. On October 14, 1986, in Topeka he married Martha Bontrager, she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are two sons, Delbert Mast (special friend, Nettie Miller), Wayne Mast at home; three daughters, Louanna (Albert) Coblentz, LeEtta (Lavon) Miller all of LaGrange, Norma (Marlin) Eicher of Sonora, KY; 12 grandchildren; brother, Levi (Louie) Mast of Shipshewana; two sisters, Mary Alice (Lyle) Mast of Shipshewana, Edna Sue (Andy) Mast of LaGrange.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ernest Mast; and a stillborn brother.
Freeman had worked for a few local factories and later at Sunrise Workshop and was a member of the Older Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 12, and all-day Thursday, March 13, at the Dan Lehman residence: 1310 N 250 W LaGrange. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Friday, March 14, at the same residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Amos Yoder and the home ministers. Burial will be in Mast Cemetery-LaGrange. Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury, is assisting the family with arrangements.
McElmurry, Leon W.
October 6 1937 - January 21, 2025
Leon W. McElmurry, 87, of Goshen, fondly known as “Mac” went to the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Esther’s Hospice House in Elkhart.
Leon was born to Ortho and Elise (McGregor) McElmurry on October 6, 1937 in Monet, Missouri. He was the fthird of seven children.
Leon married Rosalee (Landis) on August 16, 1961 in Lebanon, Oregon.
She survives, along with daughters, Joann Elder of Goshen, Karen (Lee) Pfahler of Goshen and Sheila McElmurry, traveling nomad; grandchildren, Rachel (Chad) Rump, Hannah Elder, Abby (Raf) Sandavol, Miranda Pfahler and Isaac Pfahler; great-grandchildren, Thea, Silas, and Ian Rump; sister Claudia Miller of White Pigeon, Michigan, niece Shawna (Marvin) Schmucker of Middlebury; nephew and Shane (Nichole) Miller, also of Middlebury.
He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Leah, brothers, Archie and Terry, and sisters, Wilma, Pat, and Corabelle.
Leon was a Fuller Brush salesman for 56 years. He loved meeting with all of his customers and watched many of their children grow up and have children of their own. Leon loved watching the Goshen High School RedHawks play basketball. He loved Jesus and his wife “his Queen” Rosalee of 63 years. Leon spent many years working at Bible Memory Camp. He also volunteered at Lifeline, Youth for Christ, and was involved with Bible Study Fellowship. He enjoyed playing basketball with the Goshen Park Department until he was 82.
Visitation will take place on Friday, Jan. 24, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Pleasant View Church, Goshen. A private burial will precede a 3:00 p.m. memorial service on Saturday, January 25, also at Pleasant View Church.

Mellinger, Alta Roth
May 2, 1931 - January 22, 2025
Alta Mellinger, 93, of Goshen passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Greencroft Healthcare.
She was born May 2, 1931 in Morton, Illinois to John and Alma (Yoder) Roth. They preceded her in death.
On September 29, 1951 in Morton, Illinois, she married the love of her life Erwin Mellinger, whom she met at Goshen College.
Erwin survives along with three children, Gina Mellinger Alicea, Geoffery Mellinger and Gregory Mellinger; three grandchildren, Nick, Chris and James; and three-great grandchildren, Rory, Scarlett and Sloan.
Alta learned determination from her father, John who had the undeterred vision to start the Peoria Relief Sale to raise money for Mennonite Central Committee. Alta’s vision was to create a 10,000 Villages retail shop in Glen Ellyn, Illinois to also benefit the work of M.C.C., which she did and managed for many years.
She had a great love for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. From the beginning, singing in the Goshen College choir together, she and Erwin, developed a love of music that has lasted a life-time, enjoying many concerts together.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen.
Burial will take place at Science Ridge Mennonite Cemetery, Sterling, Illinois at a later date.

Messner, Catharine S. Burkholder
February 17, 1931 - March 2, 2025
Catharine S. Messner, 94, a resident of Garden Spot Village, New Holland, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025. She was the wife of the late Roy R. Messner who died in 2014. Born in East Earl Twp., she was the daughter of the late Daniel W. and Grace Witwer Burkholder.
Catharine was a homemaker and a member of St. Johns Center Lutheran Church in East Earl. She enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening.
Surviving are six children, Ruth Ann wife of Lester Martin of Ephrata, Janet wife of Larry Yoder of New Holland, Nelson husband of Dora Messner of East Earl, Mary Jane wife of Terry Schaeffer of Narvon, Lamar husband of Katrina Messner of Denver, and Charles Messner of Denver: twenty-five grandchildren, forty-three great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Grace Brubaker of Lancaster, Helen Messner of East Earl. and Ruth wife of Mel Hornberger of East Earl.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Harold, a great-grandchild Maverick Messner, sons-in-law, Elmer Rissler and Glen Weaver, a daughter-in-law, Beverly Heck Messner. and brothers, James, Leroy and George Burkholder.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 6, at 2:00 P.M. at the Chapel at Garden Spot Village, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, with Pastors Chet Yoder and Jason Rissler officiating. Interment in Center Union Cemetery. A Viewing will be held at Garden Spot Village on Thursday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service.
Metzler, Doris G. Gunden
August 29, 1927 - February 5, 2025
Doris G. Metzler, 97, died February 5, 2025 at her residence at Greencroft Healthcare, Goshen, Indiana. Doris Evelyn Gunden was born on Aug. 29, 1927, in Flanagan, IL to C.J. and Agnes (Albrecht) Gunden, the eighth of nine children. At a young age the family moved to Goshen, IN where her younger sister Ruth was born.
On June 6, 1953, she married Carl M. Metzler in Goshen, IN. The two got to know each other while in voluntary service on the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico. Carl preceded her in death on July 3, 2022
Doris is survived by her children, Jane Metzler of Goshen, IN, Robert (Cathy) of Marietta, GA, and Linda Metzler (Chris Gill) of Berrien Springs, MI. She is grandmother to Ryan (Jessica), Sara (Rich), Martina (John), Joshua (Erin), and great-granny to John, Theodore, and Sophia.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, C.J. and Agnes; her siblings and their spouses, Elva (Wilber), Lois (Ernest), Orville (Ann), Cleland (Myra), Elton (Marjorie),
Ralph (Opal), Donald (Elsie), and Ruth.
Doris taught school for several years in Indiana and Virginia. After her children were in school, she returned to school and received a master’s in library science from
Western Michigan University.
While living in Kalamazoo, MI, she worked as a librarian within the public library system. She was active in the Church and Synagogue Library Association (CSLA) and Church
Women United. She was involved with International Student Wives at Western Michigan University and recorded text books onto tape for visually impaired students.
She was a long-time member of Skyridge Church of the Brethren and started and maintained their church library for many years.
While living in Goshen she worked at Provident Bookstore and authored a newsletter for church librarians. She also organized libraries in the community: Oaklawn, Goshen, IN; the Mennonite offices, Elkhart, IN; and Juniper Place, Goshen, IN. As a member of College Mennonite Church, she was actively involved with the church library.
Her friends and family will remember her as a gentle, loving, caring, forgiving wife, mother, grandmother, great-granny and friend.
Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 10:30am in the Alta & A.J. Metzler Meeting House at Greencroft Healthcare, 1225 Greencroft Drive, Goshen, IN. Visitation with family will be from 9:30-10:30 at the Meeting House.
